Learn about mummies

Mummies are ancient spirits of people who died. They are normally found in tombs. For example, King Tut became a mummy when he ruled ancient Egypt. His tomb was discovered in 1922.

When a body was ready to become a mummy it needed to be dried out. A salt called natron would be used by the priest. The salt took the water out of the body. Now the skin was dry.

Priests would place good luck charms with the body. Some charms were made of gold and beautiful stones. The charms were meant to keep the evil spirits away from King Tut. (I like the charms that looked like tiny eyes!)

That’s all for today!

Love, Hal
