Black History Month

Hello readers! February is Black History Month. There are so many people to learn about and celebrate this month.

I’d like to share about two special historical people:

Ruby Bridges – Ruby was a little girl living in New Orleans in 1960 who was the first black child to go to a white school. Everyone was mean to her because of the color of her skin. I wish the adults understood that Ruby was a child who just wanted to go school. Ruby was very brave!

Wilma Rudolph – Wilma got her leg twisted and almost died. She became an Olympic winner even though she was so sick as a child. Wilma is a great role model to keep going. She reminds us that you can do anything!

Let’s keep learning about Black History Month! You could learn about Katherine Johnson, Marin Luther King Jr., Bessie Coleman, or Rosa Parks.

Love, Hal
