Hello! Happy new year. Welcome to 2026. This is not a new year’s post.
Today we are going to learn about Vikings!
Who were the Vikings?
Vikings were pirates. The name Viking means “pirate raid.” (See 10 facts about Vikings below!) They were some of the greatest sailors. They stole treasure and unfortunately took the lives of others.
One of the Vikings, Leif Erikson, discovered North America before Christoper Columbus. His father was Erik the Red.

PS For all my fellow Harry Potter fans out there…
Fenrir Grayback, the werewolf in the Harry Potter books, was named after a ferocious giant wolf from Viking mythology. Cool!!!
Bye for now,
HISTORY HAL
